Specialist in Occupational Medicine
Dr David Shackleton is an independent specialist in occupational medicine working in a variety of industry sectors and is Medical Director of Occupational Health Solutions Ltd.
Having a background in hospital medicine, Dr Shackleton joined the Health and Safety Executive in 1990 as an Employment Medical Adviser before moving to British Rail in 1995 as a Senior Medical Adviser. In 1997 he started an independent consultancy in the North West and currently holds a variety of senior appointments including Group Medical Adviser to the Pilkington Company and Medical Adviser to the Kellogg Company, AstraZeneca and Federal-Mogul.
In 2004 Dr Shackleton was appointed Medical Adviser to the Rail Safety and Standards Board and has been involved in medical standard setting at UK and European level; he is also a member of the Rail Medical Advisory Group set up by the Association of Rail Industry Occupational Physicians.
In his private practice Dr Shackleton is specialising in occupational health medico-legal work and pensions medical adviser work, as well as routine ad-hoc management referral medical reports.
